creamy cheese grits

Ingredients:

Yield: 6-8 servings

    • 5 cups water
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 1/4 cup quick-cooking grits
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
    • 1 cup shredded Monterey jack cheese
    • 1/2 cup half and half
    • 1 Tbsp butter
    • 1/4 tsp pepper

Directions:

    1. Bring 5 cups water and salt to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Gradually whisk in grits; bring to a boil.
    2. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes or until thickened.
    3. Stir in remaining ingredients until cheese is melted and mixture is blended.
    4. Serve immediately.
