whisky cheddar burger

Total Time: 30 Minutes

Ingredients:

    • 1/4 cup whiskey
    • 1 Tbsp reduced-sodium soy sauce
    • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 Cup (4 oz) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
    • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
    • 2 Tbsp seasoned bread crumbs
    • 3 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1/2 tsp each salt, paprika, dried basil, and pepper
    • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
    • 8 onion rolls or hamburger buns, split
    • Optional toppings: lettuce leaves, sliced tomato, cheddar cheese slices, and barbecue sauce.

Yield: 8 Servings

Directions:

    1. In a large bowl, combine the first 11 ingredients. Add beef; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape into 8 1/2 inch thick patties.
    2. Moisten a paper towel with cooking oil; using long handled tongs, rub on grill rack to coat lightly. Grill burgers, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 inches from heat 4-5 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160 degrees. Serve on rolls with toppings as desired.
